Hey, I’m Winston James (winny or Winston Weinert to some).
Tutor, writer, vehicle mechanic, computer technician, software engineer, field operations specialist, whatever. I just do the thing. Now it’s time to learn sewing, welding, and materials science with requisite chemistry.
I help people develop technical self-efficacy, learn programming, and build
advanced computer skills. Also, I’ll tutor anything else that I have
experience with — such as advanced driving and automotive maintenance. Email
tutoring@winny.tech to get started!
I’ve done a lot of different things and will keep doing a lot of different things.
I’ve performed winter vehicle extractions. Field repairs on vans, trucks, cars. Shop work on my own fleet of vehicles.
Written software in dozens of programming languages — OpenEdge ABL, Scala, Lua, JavaScript, Java, Elisp, Racket, Haskell, C, C++, ZKL, Bash, Clojure, Common Lisp, DOS x86 asm, Linux x86/amd64/arm32/powerpc ASM, whatever. Once you understand a couple different programming languages, picking up another becomes an exercise in concentrated study rather than starting from scratch.
I love to camp or otherwise be outside. Nothing like a good field improvisation to get the brain churning.
I’ve torn my website to bits and am composting a new edition. Until then, check the old website on archive.org, my blog, and bench notes.
